Officers from NPT3 have today visited Nottingham Castle as part of the annual Badajoz Day commemorations.

Badajoz Day marks the storming of the Spanish fortress city of Badajoz on 6 April 1812, when soldiers of the 45th (1st Nottinghamshire) Regiment played a key role in the battle.

This moment of bravery is remembered every year here in Nottingham, where a red tunic is raised to commemorate the regiment’s historic achievement.

Today, we were proud to stand alongside those carrying on this tradition and to pay our respects to the history that connects Nottingham to this significant moment in military heritage.
